Palms House II by Kevin Daly Architects transformed two neighbouring houses into a multi-generational compound that elegantly balances privacy and family.
After outgrowing the original kdA-design Palms House I, a single-family home, and ADU, the family purchased the neighboring lot and commissioned kdA to build a new home, architecturally cohesive yet distinguished from the original residence.
The firm responded with a 3,400SF house formed of cast-in-place board-formed concrete and undulating wood-batten terraces that parallels the first project and extends its architectural vocabulary. The shared courtyard and swimming pool bridge the two sites and serve as a central play space for the family’s children.
This project has been longlisted in the urban house category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
