Collaborative Robots (Co-bots) are engineered for repetitive tasks so they can work hand-in-hand with humans safely.

Traditionally, engineers have focused on technology rather than design and usability, making it difficult for businesses to adopt co-bots in everyday work environments.

Between 2018-2020 Rainbow Robotics and Tangerine researched and developed a more user-friendly design for the company's RB Series to encourage the wider introduction of Co-bots in workplaces. Significantly improved usability and easy operation through an ergonomically gripped arm, image-based GUI, LED user feedback on every joint, and one-button operation allows worker use after minimal training, with little required technical knowledge.

This project has been longlisted in the product design category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
