Satoru is the first sensory deprivation centre in eastern India that curates spatial sensory stimuli to augment relaxation and healing.
Designed as an immersive journey that gradually orients the senses towards one's inner self through four zones – self-awareness, self-association, self-introspection and self-dissociation.
Holistic physical and mental healing is achieved through isolation therapy in one of the world’s largest float tanks. The challenge to manifest an out-of-world ambiance in a 100 square metre apartment is overcome by softening corners, using unconventional material, random change in orientation and orchestrating light, sound and chromatic stimuli.
This project has been longlisted in the leisure and wellness interior category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
