Silo, the world's first zero-waste restaurant, has a new London home with an elegant interior by Nina+Co formed from waste and thoughtfully sourced organic materials.
Like the food at Silo, the materials and processes used to create the interior adopt a balance of new innovation and age-old techniques; waste polyester packaging reformed into a stone-like bar surface; carbon-negative cork flooring; tables and stools grown from mushroom mycelium; and earthy lamps moulded from foraged seaweed. These are artfully blended into a warm, refined and distinctive space. With a circular mindset throughout, Silo’s interior has been designed for eventual disassembly and recycling.
This project has been longlisted in the sustainable interior category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
