The Solar Pavilion takes the form of a rooftop module that is made of simple components assembled into a tentlike form.
Part value proposition, part exhibition for Melbourne Design Week, the Solar Pavilion became the centrepiece for The "New Normal" city hub, a collective vision with leading Australian architects to demonstrate how Melbourne could use existing technologies to become fully sustainable by 2030.
At its heart is a garden of 400 Australian native plants. Accompanying the Pavilion is an urban artwork by Ash Keating Studio titled A New Response. This was a moment amplified, expanded and electrified Melbourne’s rooftop culture.
This project has been longlisted in the small building category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
