Teacher Sui (Sui Jianguo) is a sculptor and one of China's leading contemporary artists.

Sui found an unused factory building where he wanted to house his workspace, a museum and his private living area.

The challenge was to create a meaningful separation of the space and a minimal, yet cost effective, design language. The solution was to make the museum a meditative, transitional space that stimulates the thinking process when crossing from the living quarters to the workshop.

White canvas panels were installed throughout the space to add a consistent design language and serve as a backdrop for the art.

This project has been longlisted in the large workspace interior category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
