Drawing on the origins of the Christmas tree tradition, the Electric Nemeton referenced the forest groves used as gathering places in ancient Celtic culture, reimagined with geometry, colour and light.
Part tree, part spaceframe, creating a space to walk through, a stage for social life and a sculptural object.
Conceived as an abstracted forest, its canopy was formed with modular timber pyramids with stretched mesh panels and galvanized steel trunks.
The Electric Nemeton contributed to the possibilities of winter life outdoors during Covid-19. A structure that itself was an event, somewhere to explore and a platform for open ended use.
This project has been longlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
