This micro-home for Community First! Village was designed in collaboration with its future resident. The Village is a community providing affordable housing for Central Texans coming out of chronic homelessness.
For our client, the feeling of home, comfort, and respite meant being wrapped within an armor-like enclosure, with privacy outweighing the importance of views. We lofted the ceilings over the central living space with Baltic Birch plywood panels. The ceiling culminates in the glass cupola which brings natural light into the interior. The screened-in porch gives the resident an open and social space, where he can connect to the community.
This project has been longlisted in the small building category of Dezeen Awards 2021.
