Nimtim Architects has designed Curve Appeal in London, United Kingdom.
This project reinvents an existing 1920s semi-detached house through the addition of a single joinery element that brings functionality, warmth and tactility to a newly created family space.
The joinery showcases the client's collection of objects through fragments of arched alcoves – a motif throughout the new design.
As well as storing family objects, the joinery partitions conceal structural elements and large sliding doors – along with glazed openings that allow playful glimpses to and from adjacent spaces.
Curve Appeal reduced embodied carbon and project cost by resolving all project objectives through the introduction of a single new internal intervention.
This project has been longlisted in the residential rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
