Caukin Studio has created an immersive pop-up installation in London inspired by the escalating mental health crisis.
The Feelings Library is a three-week immersive pop-up installation, designed to raise awareness of checking in with big and sometimes messy feelings in order to connect with others.
Inspired by the escalating mental health crisis in the UK, the project aims to provide a space for visitors to escape the sensory-overloaded cityscape of London and unload their thoughts through shared journaling.
Caukin Studio worked with Skip Gallery and Self Space to curate the experience and ensure the thatched monolith would be both eye-catching and sensitive in its display. Set within the creative space of a skip to suggest the 'dumping' of thoughts, the micro-library with ten journals curated by professional therapists was constructed with thatch cladding more commonly associated with tropical climes to visually transport visitors to a different way of thinking.
This project has been longlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
