wUrck has created a series of villas in a natural area of the Netherlands that anticipate owners' future needs as part of the ageing process.
The project sees villas clustered in groups of three, located in a forest setting with ancient trees and wildflowers. They address future needs with use of layout and practical solutions integrated as part of the design.
They are carefully integrated into the landscape and benefit from 'patio-terraces' instead of private gardens as a generous private outdoor space without the need for garden maintenance.
The thin minimalistic frames sunken into the floor and the ceiling maximise transparency and enhance the feeling of living in the forest. Every villa has a frame with sliding panels to individually control privacy and sunlight penetration.
The age-accommodating villas' typology is an answer to the demand for spacious ground-floor living quarters with generous private outdoor space but without the hassle of garden maintenance.
This project has been longlisted in the housing project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
