Svitanok has produced a system of modular shelves that combines tradition with technology.
Created by Ukrainian designer and architect Artem Zakharchenko-Halytskyi, the shelves are made of solid ash blades and can be operated with a single touch by way of a system of magnets enabling them to stay in a vertical position.
The design was created with accessibility in mind, with size and space provided for approach, reach and manipulation regardless of the user's body size, posture or mobility.
The collection is produced by experienced craftspeople in Ukraine. Each piece is meticulously built combining handmade techniques and the latest in technology, while any wood waste that remains is recyclable.
This project has been longlisted in the furniture design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
