Flokk has collaborated with Giroflex, Swiss studio Big-Game and Japanese woodworking specialists Karimoku New Standard to produce a contemporary version of a classic wooden office chair.
Giroflex 150 is a contemporary interpretation of the Holson chair designed in the 1950s by German designer Arno Votteler.
It combines design values of being reliable, sturdy, understated and of the highest possible quality, with woodwork skills and sustainable criteria.
Sophisticated engineering allows the chair to naturally adapt to the weight of the sitter and respond dynamically respond to their movements, while its wooden parts created from Japanese oak have been sourced from responsibly managed forests in northern Japan.
The result is a design that looks to the future while honouring the past.
This project has been longlisted in the workplace design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
