Glossier has created a skincare store space in Seattle that plays with size and scale of natural elements.
The project looks to the natural landscapes of the Pacific Northwest for inspiration and in the fascinatingly strange world of mushrooms, with a playful twist.
Visitors are invited on a journey through moss-covered rocks and gigantic oversized mushrooms that emerge from the store’s foundation. The scenic elements, designed to immerse the visitors in a Willy Wonka-esque environment, pierce through the floor of the illuminated atrium, inspired by the peristyle courtyards of ancient Greece.
Nuanced, sleek details complement the space through the use of rosy glass-tiled arches, trowelled plaster, and fluorescent light fixtures inspired by Le Corbusier's La Tourette.
This project has been longlisted in the large retail interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
