Nordic Tales has created a hybrid piece that brings together the lightness of a pendant with the freedom of a floor lamp.
Named for heliotropism, a plant phenomenon most famously associated with sunflowers which visibly turn towards the sun during the day, Helio is kept in place by a suspended wire and balanced on two-touch point, allowing the vertical position of the shade to be adjusted as well as the tilt.
The design has a cord resembling a stem, the idea being to soften the rigid and controlled feel of the lamp. Helio also comes with a marble foot which in addition to adding tactility to the design, also serves as a weight to keep the wire straight.
This project has been longlisted in the lighting design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
