Ncbham has designed ING in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium.
This project features an impressive atrium of the 10,875sqm ING headquarters that mimics a modern rainforest with its multiple layers: forest ground, understory, canopy and emergent.
"Our approach scales down the atrium volume, offering different levels of intimacy in the informal spaces around the central bar and nearby meeting center and restaurant," said design team Ncbham.
Transversality and interconnectedness are emphasised with three floors open towards the atrium, employees are both spectators and participants in the life of the building.
This offers visual connections, functionality and intimacy on the office floors while multifunctional activities related to the atrium radiate through the recharge areas across the building.
This project has been longlisted in the large workspace interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
