Martinelli Venezia has created a lighting solution born of research on the control of light through stone.

Isola delle Correnti, so named in homage to the small rounded island on the Ionian coast of Sicily, is a project that consists of a sculptural wall and table lamp made in marble which can be dimmed and switched on and off with a touch of the hand.

The table lamp consists of two CNC-cut parts with hand finished details, comprising a solid base with a curved section supporting a thin CNC-sculpted cap with a flattened area for touch, combining form, use, material and technology.

This project has been longlisted in the lighting design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
