July has designed the July Window Air Conditioner in New York City, United States.

This project is beautifully designed, easy to install, environmentally friendly, and WiFi-connected, reimagining the traditional A/C – transforming it from an appliance into a design object.

Walking around New York City, looking up, you'll see A/C units hanging out of virtually every window. Despite the need, the window A/C is a universally despised home device: traditional A/C units are ugly, noisy, and frightening to install.

July has changed the game by re-imagining the window A/C. Instead of a clunky appliance, an A/C is now a coveted home design object, with a thoughtful user experience to make installation and home usage a breeze.

This innovative A/C solution comes with a range of accessories to make the customer experience with it even better – from interchangeable front covers that change the colour of the unit to air purifying filters and more.

July's patented installation system makes it safer, easier, and quicker to install than any other A/C before, and offsets the first year’s carbon emissions for every A/C it sells – at no cost to its customers.

This project has been longlisted in the homeware design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
