Ladan by Johan Sundberg Arkitektur has created a humble and refined shed in Sweden that casts light on an idyllic country landscape.
The project is tucked between the rolling hills of Scania on the grounds of a 300-year-old farm, and is encircled by an overgrown orchard in a protected area of forests and brooks.
In the daytime, light shines through the gaps between the wooden planks of the façade, accentuating its clear, calm structure. Direct sunlight and sharp shadows are replaced by uniform, reflected light. After dusk, the building becomes a cutting-edge light sculpture, appearing as if floating amid darkened trees and grasses.
This project has been longlisted in the small building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
