Michael Young Studio and Coalesse Design Group have collaborated to create a sculptural stool made entirely from carbon fibre.

Made from carbon fibre, one of the strongest and lightest materials available, this sculptural stool is not only effortless to move and uniquely robust, but is also a unique design that was made possible only by the qualities of the material.

The inherent strength of carbon fibre allows for a new kind of stool form, with a counterbalancing cantilever seat and x-shaped footrest.

The LessThanFive Stool is an object of extraordinary modern craftsmanship rarely experienced within a furniture form, so named as it weighs less than five pounds.

This project has been longlisted in the seating design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
