Rees Architects has designed the extension of Leytonstone Loft in London, England.
This project answered a brief calling to create a relaxing retreat within a home extension where every inch of space was set out purposefully.
"We considered how to maximise everything to its full potential from space, storage, light, views and flow, while also considering materiality, acoustics, and tactility," said Rees Architects.
The Leytonstone Loft adds a modern element to its original Victorian property, which presented some interesting challenges but resulted in an equally interesting loft conversion and extension. An extra floor in the loft provides a master bedroom with an ensuite and a spare bedroom, turning the compact but comfortable home into a much more spacious abode for a family.
This project utilised the entirety of space with the intention of a thoughtful design that made it feel warm and generous in its functionality.
This project has been longlisted in the residential rebirth project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
