Brandston Partnership has created an urban lighting scheme for a mountain city in China.
The project is the revival of a historic area within the mountain city of Chongqing.
Carefully considered design sees the rejection of urban lighting solutions, instead focusing on cultural characteristics of mountain cities to enrich the experience of modern life with respect a for tradition.
Diffused fixtures are hidden and installed in the side of buildings, while the design of fixtures elsewhere sees consideration of elements including use of reflective materials and anti-glare structures alongside beam angle and light mode, as well as illuminated surface distance and installation height all adding to the feel of the scheme.
This project has been longlisted in the architectural lighting design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
