Minjiang Village Courier Station in southwestern China's Sichuan province provides a space for tourists and locals alike.
Minjiang Village Courier Station is part of Chengdu's rural regeneration initiative and is located in Minjiang Village, Wenjiang District, along the Beilin Greenway.
As the area's natural environment and striking greenway attract a high number of outdoor activities and tourists, the courier station was established to provide tourism services as well as a social and trading space for local villagers.
MUDA Architects used clear geometric forms and fair-faced concrete, employing vernacular materials and common construction techniques to allow agency for locals to complete the architecture themselves on a modest budget.
This project has been longlisted in the civic building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
