Smac Studio has created a bold and ambitious design within the small spaces of this complex house in Australia.
Located in Sydney's exclusive eastern suburbs, the project is a semi-detached house where extensive reconfiguration took place across the home.
The notable inclusion of an Elba marble staircase at the entrance prompted the creation of a powder room under the stairs. Here Venetian plaster finish on the walls lends an old-world European touch, offset by modern flexible plywood used to embrace every possible curve in the space – even the ceiling is a perfect arch with no wall lines. Two semicircular corner mirrors reflecting each other add to the dark tactile scheme, while the Petra sconce by Christopher Boots casts a rose-quartz glow on proceedings.
This project has been longlisted in the house interior category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
