Andrea Eusebi has reimagined a mountain foothill home in the centre of Italy where contrast is key to connect to its surroundings.
The project is a typical property in the Abruzzo region, standing at the bottom of the mountain. The design attests to the preservation of its form in direct opposition to the inner space, where sleek lines and minimalist decor highlight the difference between exterior and interior.
Where the project has conserved and reactivated the existent volume of stone – namely by making the wall structure evident once more with the use of contemporary technologies – the interior provides a continuous play with shadows and light, created with new glass openings and innovative use of materials which intentionally highlight a strong sense of contrast.
This project has been longlisted in the house interior category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
