Nanometer Architecture has created an office space in Japan to suit its design needs.
The project is located Sakae, Nagoya's downtown area, in a former snack bar that had been vacant for over 20 years later renovated into a commercial office building.
The design sees an office space created around the idea of a desk that can be used for anything.
The inverted beam that emerged from the existing ceiling and floor was used as the foundation for the desk, with the top surface serving as an enclosure, like a small room floating in the room. The colour-change lighting is a nod to the nightlife of the building's former use and illuminates the space beneath that can be a work desk, a long table, a gallery or a store.
This project has been longlisted in the small workspace interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
