Studio Fragment has designed Our Bakery in Seoul, South Korea.
This project is a cafe that serves fresh bread and coffee in Seoul.
"We designed the space with the characteristic that bread takes shape from powder," said design team Studio Fragment. "And although the space is neat and calm, we designed it with various textures and shapes so that we can focus on the aroma, taste, and texture when enjoying bread and coffee."
The design team focused on the following concept: bread starts with flour. Flour is a powerless fluid. It is blown away by the wind, and even if you try to hold it with your hand, it flows through the gaps between your hands.
Studio Fragment saw how space and architecture were built in the process of making bread and imagined that the space for eating bread was also made like bread. Concrete is solidified by collecting cement powder, water, and various aggregates and resins, thus pushing the concept further.
This project has been longlisted in the restaurant and bar interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
