Konstantin Arkitekter has created a pavilion in a UNESCO World Heritage site in Greenland to promote the area's culture and tradition.

Located in Sarfannguit, a cultural landscape in West Greenland and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2018, the Qaammat (Fjeld pavilion) by Konstantin Ikonomidis is a site-specific installation designed to celebrate and promote the Inuit intangible cultural heritage and traditional knowledge of the environment.

The building comprises glass blocks arranged in a way that forms two narrow openings, inviting the visitor to experience its intimate atmosphere and opening up the structure to the wider landscape. The glass absorbs and fluctuates light – seen from a distance, it reflects the colours of the surroundings, the seasons and the passing of time.

This project has been longlisted in the installation design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
