Ineke Hans and Circuform have produced a seating solution that minimises raw materials and maximises re-use.

Rex is a relaunch by Circuform of an award-winning design by Ineke Hans from 2011, updated to give the industrially designed furniture piece a circular life. It aims to minimise the use of expensive new raw materials and maximise re-use.

Injection moulds for the design have been re-engineered for recycled material, ensuring the chair is sustainable and fully recyclable, while a network of deposit stations has been introduced where chairs can be returned for a refund.

Here chairs are checked, cleaned, repaired when necessary and re-sold, again with a deposit, while broken chairs are shredded into valuable raw material for new production.

This project has been longlisted in the seating design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
