Vaust Studio has designed Rosenthaler 69 in Berlin, Germany.
This project is a sculptural restaurant that cultivates Berlin’s penchant for brutalism.
"We did a take on giving the learnt perception of poke places a total[ly]new makeover," said Vaust Studio. "The result is a sleek and raw monochromatic space that defers any ostentatious colour for the vibrant bowls that are on offer."
A photograph of a Hawaiian fisherman from 1907 functions as a role model where a man sitting on a rock with just the very essential bit of clothing on his body is preparing his gear to go out and hunt. The designers appreciated the intimacy, balance and honesty of this moment and drew influence from it for the overall concept of Rosenthaler 69.
This project has been longlisted in the restaurant and bar interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
