The Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University has created a collective sense of sharing and collaboration among employees in China's northernmost province.
The project is located in Harbin, a high-latitude city in China's Heilongjiang province. With a total floor area of 7,584 square meters, this office building takes a prominent spot in an eco-tech town, which has a signed partnership agreement with the German Energy Agency (dena, Deutsche Energie-Agentur) and is committed to the construction of low-energy buildings in cold climate regions.
The building is designed as a cluster of 'landscape tubes' that bridge the research office area on the west side and the urban park on the east side. The tubes run through the building to create a shared space that promotes a collaborative and healthy corporate culture.
This project has been longlisted in the civic building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
