Studio Shand has produced a new sandwich bar in Australia that blends use of colour, form and architecture to create a dynamic and exciting space.

The project is located in the base of an Art Deco face brick building typical of interwar Bondi Beach. The design addresses the brief for a new sandwich bar as a dynamic study in colour and shape through time. Blending brick construction with duotone interiors and custom sculptural furnishings, it creates an interplay between raw and refined elements to present as a casual diner for the future.

Bands of brand colour wrap the store, metal blades split prismatic panels and galvanised plates suspend crystalline blocks to create an artful environment that places focus on the produce and product on offer.

This project has been longlisted in the small interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
