Standard International has designed The Standard in Hua Hin, Thailand.
This project is an idyllic seaside retreat that boasts a "just what you need and nothing more" aesthetic, drawing influence from mid-century Miami.
Clean, modernist architecture sets the tone as guests arrive at the entrance and vined walkways lead guests to a colourful collection of rooms, villas and suites.
"We chose to create tensions between brutalist elements like exposed aggregate and concrete and natural finishes... [such as] whitewashed wood, rattan, bamboo, and natural fibres," said Standard International. "These materials were carefully curated throughout the project both in interior finishing and loose furniture to create a boho-chic vibe, which is also reinforced with the lush landscape of the property and the calming seafront view."
The property is nestled in a luscious garden dreamscape with native flora and greenery just steps away from the Gulf of Thailand with 178 guest rooms and suites – as well as 21 pool villas and timeless design.
This project has been longlisted in the hotel and short-stay interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
