Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architect (TZG) designed the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct in Sydney, Australia.
This project is conceived of an "arts ecosystem", where the synergy of co-located creatives generates powerful cultural energy, open and visible to the public.
TZG conserved as much of the industrial character of the heritage-listed timber wharf buildings as they could – while adding an ambitious and technically demanding functional programme.
The Walsh Bay Arts Precinct provides a home for Australia's premier arts companies, encompassing multiple state-of-the-art theatres, rehearsal studios, function spaces and a concert hall.
The project is a key part of the "Cultural Ribbon" of arts venues along the waterfront from the Sydney Opera House and is a significant addition to the cultural life of Sydney and its people.
This project has been longlisted in the cultural building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
