Stu.dere Oficina de Arquitetura e Design has created a retail space in Portugal that encourages playful exploration.
The project was created in response to a request for an open-space concept, with the intention to create a labyrinthine sense of playful exploration when walking through
Material use of the wire mesh creates a physical but not visual barrier, while elsewhere honeycomb polycarbonate has been chosen for the interior walls, suggesting an industrial appearance in harmony with the microcement-coated floor. To counterbalance this, the ceilings and the office were lined with birch plywood, creating a more intimate feel that allows both the rhythm to be created and the organisation of space, such as furniture layout, to be guided.
This project has been longlisted in the small retail interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
