Z'scape has designed the Wilderness Garden and Amphitheater in Yanjiao Village, China.

This project established a distinct closeness with indigenous Naxi culture and alpine nature by creating a place of comfort, solitude and peace.

Z'scape embraced an eco-friendly goal to experimentally create a wilderness garden without any irrigation and maintenance. They worked closely with local botanists and villagers to identify existing plant species and study the feasibility.

The use of native plants, along with local stones and textures creates a variety of spaces and views and draws visitors in to explore the rich local culture.

The artful amphitheatre is an elegant piece of land art which has become culturally important for the local community.

This project has been longlisted in the landscape project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
