Jenna Postma has created a functional cabinet with organic shapes to contrast with its historical setting.
The project was born of a client request for storage set within a historical building consisting of three very small floors, a tight staircase and fragile walls.
The design was shaped by the property's lack of straight floors or walls, coupled with the need for the cabinet to be well-ventilated. As a result, the cabinet consists of wooden slats on a curved wooden frame, while details include linoleum on the doors to lend softness and a bright colour palette to offset the natural feel of the wood. The middle part is kept open as a small space to crawl into or to showcase a favourite object, and give the Wood Loop an open feeling.
This project has been longlisted in the furniture design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
