Public vote winner for small retail interior of the year: Holloway Li has created a showroom and co-working space in East London for a new era.
The project is located in Clerkenwell, and is an experience-led showroom and co-working space inspired by the 'lost forms' of the Industrial Revolution.
The showroom is the flagship retail space for bathroom brand Coalbrook, and narrates the brand's story through a series of scenographic spatial interventions.
The design evokes the industrial chimneys which towered over the skylines of cities, the searing heat of the furnaces and engine rooms, and the textures of rough chiselled quarries.
Eschewing traditional expectations of a showroom, the design forms a surreal internal landscape that speaks to the evolving function of physical retail in the post-Covid era.
