Kengo Kuma & Associates has designed Goz for Gan, a brand based in Valencia, Spain
With Goz, the master of architecture Kengo Kuma reveals his vision of craftsmanship.
Composed of three rugs, Kiri, Ame, and Tsuchi – terms for fog, rain, and earth in Japanese – the collection extols the genuine beauty of handmade objects.
It is made using an innovative technique developed specifically for these designs: on a manual loom, expert craftsmen insert teak wood rods – circular, semicircular, or square in section – into a framework of undyed virgin wool.
Goz captures the essence of the works of Kengo Kuma who, according to Japanese tradition, understands materiality as a fundamental component of architecture and design.
This project has been shortlisted in the homeware design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
