Muhhe Studio Institute of Architecture Design and Planning Co. Nanjing University has created a new studio for a photographer in China.
The project is located in an old factory facing the street in Nanjing and is the workspace of the photographer Huai Nianshu.
The high ceilings create a light-filled space that was harnessed with a reconfiguration of the direction of the entrance, to allow for transparent flow around the structure.
Materials such as birch Marine board and white painted steel plate were used for the structure to make it simple and delicate, while for the wall and ceiling of the old plant, the original mottled texture was retained. For the newly added external doors and windows, a three-layer solid wood board was used to ensure stability while retaining the original feel.
This project has been shortlisted in the small workspace interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
