Snøhetta has created a worktable that encapsulates the beauty to be found in convergence.
Handmade in Snøhetta's Adelaide workshop, and designed in collaboration with Snøhetta's Oslo studio, the worktable is a manifestation of a digital to analogue collaboration across studios and continents.
It was created with materials including Tasmanian oak, sourced from one of the world's first underwater forestry operations amid an ancient woodland lost underwater for 25 years. The unique wood is identified by its pronounced pattern and imperfections to give the table a warm, illustrious quality, breaking with traditional office furniture materials.
With a design inspired by its home in a Bondi Beach office space, the Intersection Worktable stands as a piece that brings together ideas of material exploration with sculptural form.
This project has been shortlisted in the furniture design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
