Heatherwick Studio has designed Little Island in New York City, United States.
This project is a new public park that shelters three new performance venues along the Hudson River.
Heatherwick Studio built the 2.4-acre park in collaboration with New York-based landscape architects, MNLA and global engineering firm, Arup.
Designed as a haven for the people and wildlife of New York, it's a real green oasis, held above the water by sculptural planters in the form of "modular petals".
Little Island is located just a short walk across a gangplank from Manhattan’s Lower West Side where visitors will walk past over 100 tree species planted throughout the park.
This project has been shortlisted in the landscape project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
