A+R Architekten has created a medical facility in Myanmar that blends contemporary style with traditional building.
This project is a new hospital structure in Magyizin, a remote village in Myanmar. By combining traditional construction methods with a contemporary design vocabulary, A+R Architekten's resultant work sees a facility that provides faster and better access to medical care.
The project, which was completed in 2020, is the second from A+R Architekten designed and implemented on site by order of the NGO Projekt Burma e.V. With its 20 beds, a fully equipped operating theatre, a delivery room and a laboratory, the Project Burma Hospital serves around 20 communities and 20,000 people as a central medical facility.
This project has been shortlisted in the civic building category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
