Domino Architects, HAKUTEN and Nozomi Kume (Studio Onder de linde) have produced a condominium showroom in Japan that can be adapted over time.
The project reimagines the culture of condominium showrooms, which are repeatedly dismantled and renovated over the course of several years, expending large amounts of labour each time.
The design allows for ease of changing the layout, with capacity to expand and reconstruct after the completion of construction. The prefabricated structure was left intact and the space was wrapped with light curtains, while partitions in the business meeting space were created as foldable walls, allowing for layout and flow line changes.
The ruggedness of the prefabricated structure is expressed through the curtains, creating an elegant and light space.
This project has been shortlisted in the large retail interiors category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
