Brave New Eco has created a thoughtfully layered interior for a hillside home in a leafy area of Melbourne.
The project is located on a site meandering down into Merri Creek parklands, looking out across the green wildlife belt to the city beyond.
Interior elements were designed in order for each space to feel settled and cohesive, with a sense of discovery to the distinct areas as residents move through the home.
The story of this home's interior is emphatically local, layering a resolved palette of organic materials in diverse and sometimes unusual applications across the spaces. Custom joinery was configured for the family's specific storage and lifestyle requirements, while materials such as the doors' deep green Forbo Marmoleum – created from linseed oil, pine rosin, and wood flour which are naturally biodegradable – help to create a scheme that is beautiful, robust and playful.
This project has been shortlisted in the house interior category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
