Brandston Partnership has created a lighting design for a conference centre in China set amid pure mountain snow.
The project is located in a conference centre next to the ski resort town of Yabuli. It is designed to blend the curved shape of the centre with the natural environment of the forest and snow resort and aims to reduce external interference through the architectural language of light, rather than focusing on the light itself.
Pole-mounted flood light is used to mimic moonlight from a distance, enhancing the form and purity of the building at night. By employing a dimming system, the architectural curve and the details of the curtain wall are highlighted to create contrast and a feeling of reverence for the three-dimensional sense of the architectural space.
This project has been shortlisted in the architectural lighting design category of Dezeen Awards 2022.
