London-based New Makers Bureau has designed the 32° East Arts Centre in Kampala, Uganda.
32° East Arts Centre is Kampala's first purpose-built community arts space and the new home of 32° East | Ugandan Arts Trust.
The arts centre will provide an inspiring, nurturing, productive space for Kampala's artist community and visitors to work, socialise, gather and exchange ideas.
The rammed earth and earth brick building, which will be delivered in two phases, has been designed by London-based architecture practice New Makers Bureau, in collaboration with Kampala-based multidisciplinary design and build firm, Localworks.
The client, 32° East | Ugandan Arts Trust, is a not-for-profit promoting East African artists.
This project has been longlisted in the sustainable building category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
