Formafatal has introduced novel "rammed earth" construction in Costa Rica, with twin villas designed by Dagmar Štěpánová.
Set on a jungle-covered hill, the 95-square-meter villas open to the Pacific Ocean through frameless glass.
Named Achioté, these villas utilise rammed clay walls, echoing sustainable and biophilic principles.
The structures, distinct in form and colour, aim to embody yin and yang energies. Jaspis, connecting to the ocean and sky, features warm sand hues, while Nefrit, grounded in the jungle, embraces terracotta and charcoal shades.
This project has been longlisted in the hospitality project category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
