Ludwig Godefroy has designed a boutique hotel that fosters natural cooling along Mexico's Pacific coast.
Casa TO is a two-story, 600-square-metre hotel near Puerto Escondido. Emulating Oaxacan temples, Godefroy harnessed raw concrete and local crafts to create a sprawling structure with a central pool.
Cooling in the tropical climate was achieved through the hotel's ground-floor gardens, upper-floor terraces and outdoor baths, designed to encourage cross-breezes.
The nine suites have a contemporary aesthetic, complemented by furniture from Mexican design studios.
This project has been longlisted in the hospitality project category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
