Seattle's Hybrid architecture studio and Mexico City's Palma have collaborated on NICO Loma Alta, a hotel that blends brutalism and tropical modernism styles.

Situated in Sayulita, a bohemian surf town in Nayarit, Mexico, NICO Loma Alta features a five-level open-air grid structure.

The five guest suites are equipped with floor-to-ceiling iron windows and private terraces which aim to connecting residents to the surroundings.

NICO's communal space features a spacious kitchen, turquoise-tiled lap pool and pink-stuccoed powder room. The design highlights local culture and materiality through furnishings by emerging Mexican designers and artists.

This project has been longlisted in the hospitality project category of Dezeen Awards 2023.
